The Gospel Call to Serve
St. Charles School has a strong history of service to our community. Our school children are taught early that they have been blessed with many gifts and that they are called by God to share these gifts with others. They participate in a wide range of community service activities that reflect the Catholic Social Teachings which support our Christian values of charity and a sense of justice.
Community Service Club
Middle School students have the opportunity to live the Gospel message of serving others through membership in the Middle School Service Learning Club. Their mission is to promote service learning by supporting the development of meaningful and hands-on learning experiences that challenge students to respond to the call of discipleship with faith, love and justice as our guide.
Projects to date include the following:
- Raked leaves at homes of those unable.
- Volunteered at the Community Kitchen every Saturday for a month.
- Visited a nursing home to sing Christmas carols and visit with the residents.
- Adopt-a-Trail with Bloomington Parks and Rec. Dept. at Latimer Woods.
- Adopt-a-Road: South Lincoln Street.
- Manned a water station at the IU Mini-Marathon
- Collected food for the St. Vincent DePaul Christmas food drive.
