A Note from the Director

Dear Parents:

It is time to look forward to another exciting summer. We have many new classes as well as some old favorites. Like last year, we will not be putting teacher names in the brochure. We will put them on our webpage as decisions are made. We have had problems in the past because teachers listed change due to family moves, illness, and a variety of other reasons. The fact that we need to get the brochure done almost five months before we begin makes teacher certainty a bit difficult.

This year, we are offering fewer classes. For the past several years we have had some classes with too many students and others with too few. By offering those classes which seem most popular, we can avoid canceling low enrollment classes and we also will have space to open a second section of those classes with exceptionally high enrollment (providing equipment allows us to do so). In this way, I hope more students have the option of getting their first choice in class selections.

At this time, we will not be offering students the opportunity to purchase lunches, although the "Lunch Bunch" Program still is available. Due to outside competition, our enrollment last year was somewhat lower than in previous years. It is not economically feasible for us to offer this option. If our numbers increase, we will be more than happy to reinstate it.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis has mandated the following medication policy. The forms are in the brochure and the full document is available on our web site. Please review the policy as it will indicate how your child’s medication is administered.

All medications must be in their original container, labeled and left at the office. Exceptions are epipens and inhalers. These can be given to individual teachers or sent from class to class in a child’s back pack. If you bring in special snacks for you child, place them in a sealed container with your child’s name on it. Alert both the office and teacher(s) so we know that they are available. They can be kept in a location separate from other food items.

We try our best to make sure that every child is safe and will work cooperatively with every parent to make sure that this happens. We encourage parents to park and pick up their students at the front door rather than expect children to walk to cars. I know this may take a little extra time, but the safety of your children is my main concern. Letting children walk through a parking lot with moving vehicles is an accident waiting to happen. It is not something I want to experience and I am sure no one else does either, so I ask for everyone’s cooperation on this matter.
